You can forgive the Narcissist, just don't tell them you have forgiven them. Forgiveness keeps bitterness from creeping into your soul. The Narcissist should never know you forgave them, because they take that as permission to abuse you all over again.

Forgiving does not mean you allow the person back into your life. We must forgive less our hearts get hardened. Some people carry unforgiveness in thier heart even after the person died years ago. Do not allow the dead to keep control over you.

YES! It took me a long time to get to the point of forgiveness, and I only forgave her when I was able to understand her childhood wounds as I've begun to understand my own. I understand what made her that way. I've never stated it to her. I've kept it to myself because it's not something I need to say to her. All conversation of such things is in the past for me with her. It was an internal decision, not because it was forced upon me to forgive her, but because it came from a new place of understanding. Because I have kids with her I am forced to interact with her, but I keep my distance at all times when I don't need to be around her.

I’ve seen a few documentaries on psychopaths ,all of them had adolescent trauma and what I got out of it was “resentment “ which means to feel over and over on a loop drove them to a lack of empathy. I’m guessing they didn’t forgive either.
